  • From Flocon on Anti-French Jabs Over Smoking Ban

The guy at Herald.net is so ensconsed in his prejudice that he doesn’t fail to mention… you name it, Jerry Lewis!
Someone ‘s got to tell him the war is over. At least with the US (until next time probably…)

Well, you know, Jay Leno is well known to attack, I mean really attack, people when the public opinion is against those people : he was really anti-french when it was fashionable… Definitely not a proof of courage.

  • From Kanowakeron Hill UE on Jay Leno’s French Obsession

    From the Wikipedia entry:

“Leno was born in New Rochelle, New York. His mother, Catherine (née Muir), a homemaker, was born in Greenock, Scotland and came to the United States as an eleven year-old. His father, Angelo Leno, who worked in the insurance business, was born in New York to immigrants from Flumeri, Italy.”

Not for anything, but Italian and Scottish jokes are legendary. Does Leno taunt, mock or denigrate the Italians or Scots? Why not? Seems like riding the wave of pop culture is fine… just as long as it doesn’t strike too close to home.

I’d be willing to bet if Leno’s audience booed or walked out after his French antics, he’d change his tune in a heartbeat. So why don’t they?

During the Second World War – and unlike the Italians – the French were on the Allied side of Democracy over Fascism. Leno may find that a source of jokes and amusement, but others find that a source of pride and inspiration.

French-bashing in the States is far from over.

There is not much to expand on this article. The author is correct in that we should have been accomadating. If the tables were turned and it was American aircraft you had better bet your bottom dollar that the French would have allowed us to land. Again, an injustice that will have no ramifications.

Whatever Jay Leno says about the French, I am sure he owns a Cartier watch, shops for his wife, girlfriend or else at Dior, Chanel, Vuitton or Hermes… Sometimes enjoy a good bordeaux.
He would not turn down an invitation to stay at Antibes’ Eden Rock during Cannes film festival.
He would also enjoy to take a break to France for private a vacation where he is TOTALLY UNKNOWN, therefore feel free to go around on his motocycle.
I have a name for this kind of people…

Maybe she didn’t laugh hard enough to warrant the full eleven and a half year maxium. Gosh, just think, the worst you can get in the Grand Canyon state for pasting somebody while driving drunk is eleven and a half years, and that is only if you are really really really glad you did it….and you tell someone that…..and it gets recorded.

    France 24 – Priscille Lafitte

“As for Le Figaro, the right wing newspaper recalls the deposed candidate’s American youth. Aged 19, Willard (“Mitt”) Romney was sent to France for two years as a Mormon missionary. He speaks about how difficult it was to convert Catholics – something the French daily uses to explain his animosity against the French. “This is where he first encountered defeat,” says Le Figaro. “He only managed to convert two people.””

  • From Barney on Michael Savage: last of the French-Bashers?

No one in France under 40 has ever heard of Jerry Lewis. It’s one of the strangest anti-French stereotypes our american friends keep circulating.

It is true that in the 70’s Jerry Lewis got famous in France for a while but so what ? Jerry’s Lewis fame in France in the 70’s pales in comparison to Bruce Willis or De Niro’s fame today in France.

And it’s not like Jerry Lewis owes his career to the French or anything.
His success is due entirely to an american audience who paid to see his movies and made him of one of Hollywood’s most successful actor of his time.

Besides, it’s not like the man has become a pariah in his own country. He enjoys quite a fandom still in the US. He recently made a cameo on the simpsons.

As for Woody Allen, yes he is loved in France. Not because he’s a “schlemiels”, whatever that is, but because we enjoy his movies and the fact that he speaks French quite fluently. The fact that he is shunned by Hollywood’s big studios and the conservatives adds to his appeal as well.
We couldn’t care less about his jewishness.

Savage should know that Jewish citizens are among France’s most beloved personalities.
Those accusations of French anti-semitism coming from the US are frankly getting tiresome. Especially when based on ridiculous premises.

And if conservatibes think we’re so worthless, why is it that they can’t stop talking about us ?

I do not think he the last of the french bashers, you’ve still plenty of them, and the guy I consider as true francophobe, the self styled King of the Medias : Howard “I hate the French” Stern. After all, he had said he hate us BEFORE all that anti-french hysteria in 2003. He even mocks the new francophobes, he denounce it as political oportunism.

Apart that, Savage is dumb fool who despise the whole planet, who is also a racist bigot, an homophobe, and so on. So my heart is not broken. Those “attacks” are so stupid, overused, that it makes me even laugh.

    “French surrender again:”

They are really obsessed with that shit.
It’s as if every time the US came up in a conservation we mentioned that americans used to lynch black people. That’s crazy.

The French surrendered in 1940 against the Germans like everyone else who fought the Germans in 1940.
Like the US would have surrendered if they hadn’t been protected by a freaking ocean and like Britiain if they hadn’t been protected by the Channel.

France was fighting wars and winning them, hence why France is the biggest western european country, hundreds of years before the US was created.

They should shut their fat mouths and stop spitting on the tombs of our forefathers lest they be reminded of their own humiliating defeat in Vietnam and soon Iraq.

Germany surrendered twice by the way. In WWI in WWII. Funny they never mention that that at the end of the war France was seated at the victor’s tables after much suffering and bloodshed, the likes of which americans can only envision in their worst nightmares.

  • From admin on Jay Leno’s French Obsession

There is indeed an American obsession with the 1940 surrender. Some of it is a collective memory of that shocking event at the beginning of World War II, part of it stems from a “Monday Quarterback” approach to historical commentary.

Concerning the so-called “French military history” that was widely circulated on the Web and Usenet, the origin of the text has never fully been established, and is probably of suspicious origins. Psyops ?

Savage at times comments on France in negative terms, however to be fair, once in a while he does have positive things to say about our country. With that said, I listen to the show everyday, and laugh a lot, not with him but at him. He is pompous, arrogant, and self centered, that’s what makes the show so great. But what’s also funny is his failed attempt at humor; it’s like watching a bad sitcom, it’s so bad, it’s good.

Michael Savage’s real last name is Weiner. Not to belabor the rhyme with “whiner”, but his agenda confounds those of a neocon, a zionist and a bi-polar mind. His being intellectually lazy, France is an easy target.
This all comes together when you know that his family’s company, Rockstar Inc. (not to be confused with the videogame designer, btw), deals in fizz-caffeine drinks promoted via pseudoporn and has slutted itself to Coca-Cola for distribution.
