Plus ça change … You know the rest. It really doesn’t matter what France’s Foreign Policy is any more, if the France is against the US, we’re the usual duplicitous, traitorous cowards that deserve to be mocked and if France supports a US intervention, then we’re ridiculed as a useless ally with a propensity to surrender. As if a historical event from 1940 was nothing more than an incurable genetic trait. The lasted foray in such childish behaviour is none other than Colonel Morris Davis on twitter :

Colonel Morris D. Davis (born July 31, 1958) is a United States Air Force officer and lawyer, was appointed to serve as the third Chief Prosecutor of the Guantanamo military commissions.,[1] September 2005 until October 2007. [More info] & [Howard Law]

  1. 78. “The French didn’t put up a real fight against the Germans. They just let the Heinies walk in.”

“No one – least of all the French themselves – will try do deny the enormity of the defeat and the humiliation France suffered in 1940. French military leadership and strategy was tragically inadequate. But this does not mean that the French did not put up a “real fight”.

In the six week Battle of France, from May 10 to June 22, 1940, the French lost, in military personnel alone, 260,000 wounded and 108,000 killed. A total of 368,000 casualties in six weeks is not something to pass off lightly.

Yes, the Germans gave the French a terrible beating. But it took the combined strength of the United States, Great Britain, Soviet Russia, Canada, etc., to beat the Germans. It’s asking rather a great deal of France to match such strength against hers. ”

    1) d’en prendre acte; la version moderne de “l’American Dream*” se bâtie contre la France, ok, d’accord, ‘faudra juste penser que si les Frenchies ne sont pas contents, c’est peut-être qu’il y a une raison, et pas qu’ils “whine” systématiquement;

    *(photographie non-contractuelle)

    2) de lutter contre pour limiter la casse en dehors de la sphère US, et essayer de rétablir certaines vérités.

  6. Anyway, how this is truly pathetic and appalling to read such immature and ridiculous pavlovian anti-french reactions coming from a colonel (sic)!
And when Marc Cormier offered him a “fight” (a real debate with real arguments and facts) to that Morris Davis, there is no longer anyone, ha ha ha…
No more “colonel”, Poof! he suddenly disappeared.
I only see one person here who cowardly surrendered without fighting, eh, Morris Davis? It is you!

  8. I hate so much this country and their liberal multi-culti shit. some American male are disgusting, not all and some are nice. girls and women are mostly very nice with me, but now, I hate guys!… Each time I see a WW2 movie, I stand with Germans now, I saw on NETFLIX “the longest day” and what a move, when I was young, I dreamed to be a soldier of the 101th (or 82th)… NOT ANYMORE! They can to hate and humiliate French, I don’t give a sh..! They try to humiliate French with their WW2 stuff? FRENCH DON.T CARE!…We loved Petain! You dig’it Fu.. Colonel!… ENOUGHT is ENOUGHT!. this bastard believe their soldier are courageous? my ass! They won WW2 only with mass murder raid made with BOEING and CONSOLIDATED!… I want to see Morris Davis in a real battle (like Verdun)… I fuck you Colonel of my ass, and my former WAFFEN SS Grand’pa fuck you too! BASTARD!…………….

  9. Alsatian….can’t tell if sarcastic or not.

To the subject – I trust the Colonel will share a few 9/11 jokes with us on this anniversary…hopefully he won’t have his Freedom Fries in a twist? I’m sure dear Colonel has a few funnies about Pearl Harbor, no? BTW Colonel “twisty” Davis…..you may now have heard, but Freedom Fries are out. Freedom muffins are in! Hard to twist those. I let him share the first one…..I don’t mind waiting.

A mes chers compatriotes…Miquelon dot org….like Superfrenchie, I believe were created in part for the english readers to have a glimpse into the French mindset…at least when in regards to anti-French bashing. It is difficult to change bigoted minds when you write a language they do not understand.

  10. US brainwashed guys made me laugh about France and French people and army in particular (but there are other people in the world concerned by their distorted propaganda).

They proclaimed as indisputable and proven facts what are only cliches (and so-called rehashed stupid “jokes”), propaganda and distorted facts and History.

In terms of History (and world politic geography!!), they are truly ridiculous dunces !!!

When you argue with them with real, not twisted, elaborated and solid arguments, they don’t know what to answer except continuing to shout out their ignorance, pavlovian cliches and ill mannered hate!

For the yanks, 100 % of their soldiers, even if they work at office, are true HEROES (ah ah ah!!!) and are defending the “free” world against the very nasty and “diabolical” guys (in fact, all who don’t agree with US imperialism…) and the French army doesn’t exist for them or are only composed of 100 % of surrender cowards monkeys (sic!) (search a little, yanks, and you will see that french professional soldiers are recognized all over the world where they intervene for their efficiency and courage and no, there are not only Légionnaires that are recognized for these characteristics but many other troops, far from this, ah ah ah) , or they see this army as it was in 1945…

Wake up, yanks! Stop the navel-gazing and the fact that you believe that “God protects USA” (sic again!!! ;)) because you would be the “arm of God Justice on Earth” and start considering how the the world is really seeing you (not your your own navel-gazing vision, for sure).

Is it godly Hiroshima, Nagasaki, Viet-Nam (napalm, Agent Orange), use of depleted uranium weapons in Irak, and so on…? Come on, let be serious one minute!

  11. I guess this colonel missed an opportunity to keep his mouth shut. Same old story, it’s easier to indulge in stereotypes, you know a portion of the audience will always applaud. What’s scary is that this type of prejudiced BS comes from a “high level” official. I thought the trend had gone down since 2003. Although in 2013 more than ever this failed attempt at humor exudes helplessness all the way…

  15. Alsatian, you mentioned the film “The longest day”.

French are not neglected in this film. We can see the pride and the patriostism of the Contre-Amiral Jaujard and other French soldiers just before the first attack on D-Day.

This film is also showing the courageous and outstanding “Commando Kieffer” attacking Ouistreham and the so decisive and strong action of the “Résistance”!

Why didn’t you dream to be part of “Commando Kieffer” instead of US 82nd and 101st Airborne Divisions???

How disgraceful it is for ignorant and brainwashed contemporary Yanks to insult such valuable people!

You are worth nothing with such attitude and don’t deserve any respect to
spit on them and on the countless persons who died for France with courage, patriotism and with self-sacrifice throughout the numerous centuries of Franch History.

    1. 1th because of Hollywood! at 7-10years old boys watching actor like J Wayne, Stuart Withman, etc.. They looked so cool!… make your dream!… That’s why I dreamed to be one of them!

  16. This is an ignorant comment from the general – some one in his position should demonstrate much more intelligence

  17. I’ll try again. This is an ignorant comment from the general – some one in his position should demonstrate much more intelligence and tact than this. It’s frankly embarrassing.
I don’t think the French are congenitally cowardly and their military record puts them as the most successful military power in Europe. However, unfortunately the most recent war major war, the second world war, was pretty disaterous for them and their reputation has suffered because of this.
It’s not really fair, certainly to the memory of the French servicemen that died. They were let done badly by the politicians and generals.

    1. We were not coward, but completely DIVIDED! and totally against this war after WW1 (did you saw Verdun?)….At Verdun, no one inch square is FLAT! No ONE!… It’s easy for Yanks to be at war at 3000miles from Europe!………YOU HAVE TO KNOW, IT”S THE BRITISH WHO WERE COWARD, not French!!!!…They send no more than 9 divisions to fight!… And no more than 30 000 British were real soldiers, all the rest were driver, officers at the back line, etc…!!!…. French was set-up, betrayed, WE WHERE ALONE, Churchill never send any real Brittish Army! AND FRENCH SOLDIERS KNEW THIS!…………. It was never said! But one day, we go to be a little piss off and the true can to be told!

      1. “IT”S THE BRITISH WHO WERE COWARD,”

Look at the casualty rates. Look at all the white crosses peppering Europa, Asia, and Northern Africa. When those cross bear a english sounding name, insult them as cowards. You’re disgusting.

“French was set-up, betrayed, WE WHERE ALONE, Churchill never send any real Brittish Army!”

What good would it have done for them, to send all of their already-thin forces over the Channel to have it defeated AND be unable to repel the Luftwaffe onslaught later on? Dummy.

  18. BigM, your sentence “I don’t think the French are congenitally cowardly” is appaling.
“I don’t think”… is it not still sure for you?!?

Do you think there can be in Humanity a “cowardice gene” that would affect some countries’ people, really?!?

It is worse than I thought then…

And it is so easy and immature for USA to try to “give out lessons” with so “frightening and dangerous” neighbours like Canada and Mexico…

I don’t still understand why France is so close to USA (that considers us as garbage and untermensch) politically instead of Russia?!?

Russians know the value of France in many aspects, respect and love our country and are educated people for most of them, especially in the cultural field.

  19. An interesting little experience consits to submit to anti-french narrow minded yankees a “Glenn Beck inventory style” (made by a Finn) but this one against the USA, the US army and the people of USA.

Wow, the FUNNY reactions… 😉 ==> Asshole, moron, you know nothing about USA, come tell this in front of us, it is a scandal, it’s only stupid cliches, and some more “kind and friendly” comments.

Notice that it was only to point out how ridiculous, stupid and totally inaccurate are the same cliches concerning France and the french!!

If I understand certain inahibitants of what is called USA, it’s “so fun” to mock France but when somebody else is using the exact same method against them, it is suddenly not fun at all and it is a scandal…

It is indeed very enlightening about their mindset: so-called “free speech” for them but not for those who severely bash USA AND just not considering and understanding that cliches are the sign of ignorance, stupidity and nonsense (though this last observation was the objective)!

  20. @Jean – I too, have notice pro-France comments on Yahoo, and you are right: It is funny to see the anti-French people of USA react when it is them receiving the mocking.

The France-bashers should ask themselves a question: Does the chef enjoy it when his bad dish is served right back to him? We are finding out everyday.

  21. About the comment section on Yahoo, ZeroHedge and other news sites : it’s becoming painfully obvious these have become haunts for trolls and shills.

In fact, Popular Science has decide tu shut down comments : “We are as committed to fostering lively, intellectual debate as we are to spreading the word of science far and wide. The problem is when trolls and spambots overwhelm the former, diminishing our ability to do the latter.”

    http://www.npr.org/blogs/alltechconsidered/2013/09/24/225793577/popular-science-mag-online-comments-are-bad-for-science

Maybe it’s time news sites do the same …

    1. I couln’t agree more. All these comments are most of time stupid and ill-informed. And all kinds of extremist views are overrepresented.

  22. I also easily verified easily and “unmasked” many nasty (but very stupid, but someone using and repeatin only cliches is by definition STUPID) anti-french trolls, each one with many Yahoo accounts (it must be the same thing in other medias).

This kind of trolls is then rapidly locking, biaising and distorting the comments section (it’s not even a discussion from the very start often) and the more ridiculous is when these trolls are clumsily using their numerous accounts.

In fact, a troll is answering to… himself (!), agree and congratulate the previous message (and certainly must logically give a thumb up) and add even more, with another username and with another anti-french comment (or rather a rehashed stupid cliches) and the other trolls are doing the same thing… and they are supporting each other and add also on other anti-french trolls “comments”. It’s how a comment section of an article is locked in an anti-french enraged diatribe (oops! cliches 😉 and distorted.

    So ridiculous, pathetic and lamentable!

I don’t lose anymore my time with these sort of sites (never go there anymore) for some months now. It’s not worth at all.

  23. As an American I have much respect for the French in fact if it wasn’t, for the French navy America May not exist today. As for WW2 the German military was a juggernaut that took many countries to defeat it and the French underground was a heroic bunch of men, women and children alike, that we’re invaluable to the war effort.Colonel Morris is a lawyer and like most lawyer he is a scumbag
