Roy Blunt, Anti-French Joke Teller

At the height of this year’s Neo Con Side Show better known to all as France-Bashing, House Majority Whip Roy Blunt of Missouri joked: “Do you know how many Frenchmen it takes to defend Paris? It’s not known. It’s never been tried”.

Blurring the lines between politicians and jokesters Blunt then added the following: “Somebody was telling me about the French Army rifle that was being advertised on eBay the other day — the description was, ‘Never shot. Dropped once”. Roy knows a lot about war and fighting for your country: he avoided the Vietnam Draft and pursued his studies at Southwest Baptist University when thousands of his compatriots where being sent over to Nam.

Today, when in Washington, Roy Blunt can visit the sombre Vietnam Memorial in Washington D.C which has the names of 58 178 men and women etched on Indian Marble. Does Roy know that if the number of French casualties from the First World War were etched on a monument like the Vietnam Memorial, it would be over 20 times taller ? Does Roy know that the French Military casualties of World War II are four times greater than the number of Americans killed in Vietnam? Does Roy know that more French Civilians where killed by allied bombs than Americans killed in Vietnam?

Its all very unlikely this Republican Conservative knows much about Joffre, the taxis of the Marne, the FFL, FFI or anything else about France, his gratuitous France-Bashing being nothing more than jumping on the proverbial White House bandwagon.

It is now more than six months after France Bashing reached fever pitch, Roy Blunt has yet to apologize…

  2. @Eli – no one dragged your sorry asses in Vietnam…you did it all by yourselves. Keep trying to blame your own failures on others, but it ain’t working. Try again, bubba, you guys are a dime a dozen. 🙂
